1. Document Finish Size

Problem:            The dimensions of the file provided for print does not match the finish size requested.
Solution:            Please ensure the file supplied is consistent with the following standards sizes or alternatively if the size requested is not of the standard sizes, please ensure that the file size matches your requested dimensions.

* If your file is correct size then you may need to request a new price for printing an odd sized file.

2. Text Margins

Problem:            Critical artwork or text is too close to the edge of the document and doesn’t allow for any image shift that can occur in the printing process.

Solution:            Please keep all critical artwork and text at least 3mm from the trim edge.

* Artwork that is meant to go to the very edge of your design must extend past the document’s trim edge into the bleed area.

3. Bleed

Problem:            The supplied file does not allow sufficient printed area (bleed) beyond the finished size of the document.

Solution:            Provide a file that has a printable area that extends 3mm beyond each edge of the finished document. Artwork that is meant to go to the very edge of your design must extend into the bleed area whereas any critical artwork of text should remain at least 3mm in from the trim edge.

4. Resolution

Problem:            The supplied file contains images that are less than 300dpi (dots per inch). Images with a resolution less than 300dpi will look blurry or pixelated.

Solution:            Re-supply file with 300 dpi or higher resolution images

If your images are from a website on the internet, there is a good chance that the resolution will not be high enough for printing. The internet displays images at 72 dpi so that the images appear quickly. It is not recommended images at this resolution be used for printing.

5. Fonts

Problem:            The supplied file contains missing fonts. That is, text that is not imbedded or outlined, will be substituted with common fonts. i.e You may get a font you didn’t want.

Solution:            Re-supply file with embedded or outlined fonts.

6. Ink Density

Problem:            Paper can only absorb an ink density of 300%, the supplied file contains areas that higher than this, which means that they will bleed into surrounding areas.

Solution:            Re-supply file with a maximum combined (C,M,Y,K) ink density of 300% in any area

7. Missing Images

Problem:            The supplied file is missing Images, these images are linked not embedded.

Solution:            Re-supply file with embedded images.

8. Colour Mode

Problem:            The supplied file is in the RGB Colour mode which can cause loss of detail in light or shaded areas and affect colour accuracy.

Solution:            Convert your file to the CMYK colour space and re-supply file.

9. PDF File Format Version & Transparency

Problem:            The supplied file contains Transparencies, or is a version of pdf higher than 1.3.

Solution:            From your design application, save or export your file as a postscript (ps) or encapsulated postscript (EPS) and convert it to a pdf version 1.3
